AFTERCARE

  • Once bandaged, leave the bandage on for a few hours or until you’re home for the evening. This will help to protect it from bacteria and other irritants.

  • Before touching your new tattoo, ensure that your hands are freshly washed and clean to prevent introducing any bacteria.

  • Gently remove the bandage. If the bandage sticks, you can moisten it with lukewarm water to make removal easier. Once the bandage is removed, do not re-wrap it.

  • Using a fragrance-free antibacterial soap and warm water, gently wash the tattooed area. Use your clean hands to wash away any buildup -do not use a washcloth or sponge during the first few days. Dial bar soap is my go-to for antibacterial soap.

  • Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid rubbing, as it can irritate the healing skin.

  • Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day. I recommend using Aveeno or Lubriderm. Aquaphor ointment is okay too, but only use a tiny amount! Do not use Neosporin, vaseline, or any marketed tattoo aftercare. Simple is better and less is more.

  • Avoid picking or scratching. Resist the urge to pick at scabs or peel the healing skin. This can lead to scarring and interfere with the tattoo's healing process.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure while your tattoo is healing. Once it is fully healed, daily spf is recommended.

  • Avoid swimming and soaking. Stay out of pools, hot tubs, and baths for 2-3 weeks until your tattoo is fully healed. Prolonged exposure to water can increase the risk of infection. Showers are totally fine.

  • Wear breathable and loose-fitting clothing to avoid friction and irritation on the healing tattoo.
